THERAPIES

Service Description

THERAPUTIC PROGRAMS THAT WORK

Complementing our commitment to ensuring the health and safety of young people in our care is our belief in the effectiveness of therapy as part of providing the best overall treatment for each child. In providing therapy we place the child and the adult at the centre of our thinking and equip the practitioner/staff with the ability to offer a safe, quiet and uninterrupted space. After 72 hours of the child being placed it is at this point that the individual practitioner/keyworker will be allocated to the child as their designated key worker. The child’s allocated practitioner/keyworker will then contact the young person’s school and social worker to discuss ways of working together and to gain a mutual understanding of the child and his/her case. Within this six-week settling in period there will be a care team meeting with the allocated practitioner/keyworker to enable the care team to express how the child is settling into the home and to share any concerns. Practitioner/keyworker planned structure aims to provide the most appropriate and beneficial therapeutic care for each individual child and the best support for significant adults who have the child in mind.

Some of our Annual Experience Events

Holidays and therapy time: Cherry Blossom recognises the need for children to experience the world around them i.e. for the child to have an opportunity to develop and sustain relationships outside the home, therefore the child needs to have planned and negotiated holidays which are normally negotiated around the festivals and culture of the child. This planned structure aims to provide the best treatment for each individual young person.  There are so many amazing places and adventure on our doorstep and further afield, we go on holidays with the young people to make wonderful memories everyone can treasure. This will be based around the young people and their dreams. Holiday time at Cherry Blossom will be a team effort from the young people and the staffing team in deciding and organising where they would like to go for weekends away and our main summer holiday, what they would like to do and see. This is really exciting as we can plan an adventure to create amazing memories.

Halloween

At Cherry Blossom we can celebrate Halloween if the young people wish to. We will decorate the house, dress up, have Halloween foods and play games, tell jokes and maybe sometimes go trick or treating together.

Guy Faulks

We attend a bonfire night for guy faulks and hopefully see some amazing fireworks for those who want to, we also like to have hot chocolate and melt marshmallows.

Christmas

We like to make Christmas as special as possible. Any young person that wants to help decorate the house with Christmas decorations can join in, this is such a fun day/night, with Christmas music playing and discussions around what everyone wants to do over Christmas time.  We will write our Christmas wish lists and post them to Santa Claus.  We will also write gift list for anyone who requires them. We can send Christmas cards and bake/make gifts for people. On Christmas eve we can join in with the village gathering, sing Christmas carols and have some drinks and nibbles, Santa normally comes at the end of this night to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Christmas day will be organised with the young people and the staff team to create amazing memories with the young people’s own ideas of how they would like their Christmas day to be along with lots of gifts, fun and laughter.

Easter

At Easter we go to an Easter egg hunt but will also have a fun electronic one at Cherry Blossom itself, we will play outdoor and indoor games and make our own decorate boiled eggs and go egg rolling…not to forget about eating some chocolate eggs.

Extra Therapies that Cherry Blossom Can Offer

We have many different therapies we offer to the young people at Cherry Blossom, some of them being reflexology, reiki and relax kids to name a few. We will support children to grow and develop.

Holistic Health

Stephanie and Jane are both experienced Complementary therapists working from their beautiful log cabin in the  countryside in Gamrie. Offering a variety of therapies, they specialise in Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Reiki.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils which are chosen to suit the client’s specific needs to help improve physical and emotional well-being. It is particularly beneficial in helping to reduce stress, which can be the cause of many illness.

Reflexology – Specific pressure techniques are applied to the reflex points in the feet whichmirror the organs, glands and other parts of the body. This may help promote deeprelaxation, help relieve tension, improve mood, sleep and sense of well-being.

Reiki is a system of natural healing where the therapist acts as a channel for the energy andthe recipient draws on what they need, resulting in physical and emotional well-being restored.

Sometimes life can be so stressful for people, especially if they are ill or suffering from stress. Receiving regular reiki treatments creates inner harmony and balance, promoting a calmer response to life’s challenges. Being Reiki Masters/ Teachers we also run courses in the three different levels for people wanting to learn Reiki.
